Cheam Centre Renovation
  • The Cheam Centre Renovation project will redevelop and upgrade the existing Cheam Centre into a high-quality community recreation destination.
    Chilliwack Cultural Centre Project
  • The City of Chilliwack is developing a new Cultural Centre in the heart of downtown Chilliwack. This state-of-the-art cultural facility will include an art gallery, a 500-seat performance theatre, a 150-seat recital hall, a 200-seat studio theatre, music instruction rooms, arts and crafts studios and related amenities. It will be located on City-owned land at The Landing, adjacent to existing sports and recreation facilities and Prospera Centre. Construction is expected to begin in April 2008 with completion in 2010.
    Townsend Park Synthetic Turf Field
  • The synthetic turf field at Townsend Park will replace the existing grass field 'A' and will accommodate a full-size soccer pitch, a Canadian rules football field and most other field sports.
Bailey Landfill Greening Project Receives Gas Tax Funding
  • The expansion of the Bailey Sanitary Landfill is being facilitated by an investment of close to $2 million from the federal Gas Tax Fund. The expansion project offers the best solution for Chilliwack’s future waste disposal needs, when considering environmental, economic and social costs and benefits.
    Canada Education Park
  • The City has joined with the University of the Fraser Valley, the Justice Institute of BC and the provincial government to redevelop lands at the former Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack into an education and research park.
    Evans Road Connector
  • The City of Chilliwack and Squiala First Nation have reached a Partnership Agreement in principle to begin construction of the Evans Road Connector Project, that will link the Evans Parkway to the south, with Ashwell Road to the north
    Multiplex Arena
  • A new multiplex arena is planned for the next phase of redevelopment at the The Landing. In July, the City selected the Chiefs Development Group as the preferred proponent for the project. The main arena in the Multiplex will have an initial capacity of 3,500 seats, with room to expand to 5,700 seats over time. There will also be a second arena for community use with 300 seats.
Operations Centre and Green Depot Relocations
  • The City of Chilliwack will be relocating its aging Operations Centre to a new site at 44390 Luckakuck Way, and relocating the Parr Road Green Depot to a portion of the existing Operations Centre site.
    The Landing
  • Located close to downtown, the Landing is within easy access for nearby seniors and families. The former exhibition grounds have been an ideal location for expanding recreation facilities to serve the needs of our residents. The site is now called The Landing, in memory of the days when paddlewheel boats brought passengers and goods to a landing on the nearby Fraser River.
