The Chilliwack Fire Department has 6 fire halls which are staffed by 31 career firefighters and 130 paid on call. In addition to the primary responsibilities of providing fire response for an area over 250 square kilometres, the fire department is also responsible for providing:
- Fire prevention
- Public hazard mitigation
- Emergency management programs
- Emergency medical Aid
- Hazardous material response
On August 31, 2011 the Chilliwack Fire Department released a written and pictorial history book featuring its first 100 years of operation. The book was conceived in 2006 and has now been published and is ready for sale.
