The City of Chilliwack is working with groups and agencies in the community to develop a joint action plan that will address the community’s most significant and persistent social issues.

How to get involved |
|
1. Your group, organization or agency may be interested in a presentation about this project. Please contact the project team at 604-793-2969 or write to healthiercommunity@chilliwack.com
2. If you have comments or suggestions related to the project, and especially about the focus issues that we are working to address, please contact the project team at 604-793-2969 or email us at healthiercommunity@chilliwack.com
3. The project team will conduct a collaborative community-wide planning process in the fall of 2010. Dates will be announced on this web page and in community newspapers. If you are interested in attending, please email us healthiercommunity@chilliwack.com and we’ll be sure you receive a registration package. | Previous community initiatives have identified the three priority issues as crime, homelessness, and mental health and addictions. Previous initiatives also called for community-wide collaboration and coordinated action as strategies to tackle these issues.
The aim of the Healthier Community Strategic Action Planning project is to collaborate with government, community agencies, faith groups and individuals to identify programs and initiatives that are currently going forward in the focus areas, determine service synergies and gaps, develop a shared vision and identify partnership opportunities in the community. Community ownership and accountability for the plan will be critical to its success, so widespread participation will be needed.
The process is being guided by a steering committee that includes broad representation from the health, education and social service sectors. The engagement phase, beginning in fall 2010, will rely on an extensive cross-section of the community working together on areas of mutual interest and crafting a Strategic Action Plan to be delivered in early 2011. A draft summary is expected in December 2010. We invite you to get involved!
