FALL 2017/WINTER 2018 CHILLIWACK LEISURE GUIDE 23

Sharing Nature with

our Community

Come out and discover the tranquility

of this nature reserve, where the focus

is protection of this fragile wetland

ecosystem and the flora and fauna that

call this site home. Enjoy a walk and

watch for a variety of wildlife, including

one of the largest breeding colonies

of Pacific Great Blue Herons in B.C.

Hundreds of herons nest on site every

year from March to July, but herons

can be spotted fishing in the wetlands

throughout the year. There are no

admission fees to walk the site or to

visit the Rotary Interpretive Centre,

but donations are welcome to help

support the conservation of this undyked

floodplain habitat.

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve

Society manages the programs and

services at this City of Chilliwack site,

which is located along the Vedder River
