2017 Fraser Valley Biennale Opens at The O’Connor Group Art Gallery On April 6, to May 13th. The Chilliwack Visual Artist Association is pleased to open an exciting group exhibition at The O’Connor Group Art Gallery in the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, 9201 Corbould St, Chilliwack. (Opening hours from 12 noon until 5 pm, Wednesday through Saturday). We were very honoured to be invited to become one of the host art galleries for the Biennale for the first time since its inauguration in 2011. The 2017 Fraser Valley Biennale is an impressive survey of some of the most exceptional works of art produced by artists in the Fraser Valley region over the past two years. It began in 2011 as a partnership between The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford and arts councils from around the region. The Biennale celebrates the artistic accomplishments of the region, expands the public’s knowledge of the artists working locally, and nurtures the growth of the artist community in the Fraser Valley. Come out and join the Chilliwack Visual Artists Association as they open another extraordinary exhibition at the O’Connor Group Art Gallery. The Opening Reception takes place at 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, 8th April and members of the public are welcome to join in the celebration of the artists presented in this noteworthy exhibition. The following artists have been chosen to represent the Biennale in Chilliwack. ART33 is a collective of students from School District 33 high schools (Chilliwack, G.W. Graham and Sardis Secondary). It is a favourite annual event at the O'Connor Group Art gallery with the exhibiting student’s friends and family as well as members of the art community.​ The artworks showcased in this exhibition are responses to projects in a variety of courses offered at the high school level as juried by the art teachers during the 2016-2017 school year. Students are encouraged to share their personal taste and experiences through drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, digital art, ceramics, sculpture, animation and fabric arts. For some students, this is a start of a career in the arts. For others, this is a demonstration of their affinity for the arts. The Exhibit runs from May18th to June 17th, and the Reception is on May 18th from 6om to 8pm. Shown in the O'Connor Group Art Gallery, in the Cultural Centre, 9201 Corbould St. from noon until 5pm Wednesday thru Saturday, and on some show nights from 6.30 to 7.30. Admission is free.

Chilliwack Restorative Justice & Youth Advocacy Association will be hosting their Spring Bike Auction on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Bernard Elementary. Over 100 bikes have been donated to the organization by the City of Chilliwack and the Chilliwack community. We always have a wide variety of bikes available; some are in good shape while others will need some work and repairs. The bike preview begins at 9am with the auction at 10am. We can accept cash as well as credit cards as forms of payment when purchasing a bike. Guywires Mobile Cycle Tech will be on site again offering bike inspections for a donation of $5.00. All proceeds will be donated back to Restorative Justice. Proceeds from the bike auction will support our prevention programs.
