This is a FREE education session that is open to the public consisting of local doctors who will speak in non-medical terms on important health topics. There is also a pre-session resource fair, time for questions with a panel of experts, door prizes, refreshments and more! This particular session covers topics such as: Addiction, Fentanyl and Naloxone.

7 p.m.  JOIN OUR TEAM! Spirit Abreast Dragon Boat Team is a group of women breast cancer survivors and supporters from the Fraser Valley who paddle for fun and fitness on Cultus Lake. We are looking for new paddlers for the 2019 season. We provide all equipment and coaching. Our goal is healthy, active living and breast cancer awareness. Come to our annual Meet and Greet and find out more.

The Seniors Connect Café occurs every first and third Thursday of each month at the IHOP Restaurant in Chilliwack and every second and fourth Thursday at the Homer Restaurant. Drop in between 10:00am and 12:00pm on these dates for a free cup of coffee or tea and for a conversation. There is a facilitator present at each event. There is also a resource person present to answer any questions you may have about community and health care resources. All older adults are welcome! No membership needed and no cost attached!

Join us at Chilliwack Heritage Park on Saturday, March 9th to learn all about fishing in Chilliwack! Local fishing experts will demonstrating different fishing techniques from basic to advanced. Find out where, when and how you can go fishing in the Fraser Valley. Learn about conservation efforts which are being done by local watershed stewardship groups and how you can get involved. There will also be a variety of activities for younger kids, including arts and crafts, fishing games and live fish viewing! From novice to experienced anglers, this is a FREE event for all ages! 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Anna of Little Homestead in the Valley will demonstrate how to make natural, old- fashioned soap and bath products using basic, simple ingredients. In particular, there is a session being offered on March 12th on the topic of palliative care. Panel experts for this session will include local physicians, a lawyer and Chilliwack Hospice Society.

2:30 pm– 4 pm Meet the Ozobots – the pocket-sized coding robots that come with infinite ways to play, create and share. Learn to program by drawing coloured lines on paper. These cute little robots will follow the lines and respond to colour codes by changing their speed, direction or LED light colour. Once you learn the basics, you can program these robots through a series of challenges using drag-and-drop coding. This interactive program is a great introduction to coding, computational thinking and digital exploration for kids in Grades 4 to 6. Presented in partnership with Science World British Columbia.

2 pm – 7 pm Experience the thrill of virtual reality (VR) at the library! Put on the HTC VIVE goggles and let the real word wash away. VR is an immersive computer-generated, three-dimensional interactive environment. Wearing the HTC VIVE goggles, headphones and holding motion controllers, participants will be able to move freely around a 10x10 space and try out a mix of virtual games as well as educational experiences. Please Note: • Participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to their registered timeslot to get set up for play. Timeslots may not be guaranteed for those who arrive late. • This program is intended for those ages 10+ or 48” + tall. • Participants must read and sign a waiver. 1 pm - 4 pm Join us and learn how to program your very own robot. This is a drop-in workshop for those who would like to experiment with simple (and not so simple) programming. The sky's the limit! Spheros support STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).

1 pm - 4 pm Join us for construction fun! Build structures by stacking KEVA planks - no glue or connectors needed. From preschoolers up, everyone can explore engineering techniques and build at their own skill level. This program is drop-in, no registration necessary.

2 pm – 3 pm Introducing the Ozobot, the cutest little robot in town! Come to the Chilliwack Library and up your STEAM skills at our Ozobot program. This program requires registration and is suitable for children 8 years and up. Parents are welcome to attend and help with coding and programming

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be part of a hi-tech startup? How do you test ideas, prototype the technology, get buy-in, and start a company? What resources and support systems are available for hi-tech startup companies operating in the Fraser Valley? The Startup Hackathon is the place to not just learn, but experience all of this in one highly compressed 24 hours on March 22nd & 23rd, 2019, from 5pm to 5pm. Final presentations are from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, and are open to the public with free admission. Come cheer on these teams, and teams invite your friends and family.
