City Lowers Flag to Half-Mast to Mourn Former Alderman Peter Dyck May 6, 2016

It is with great sadness that the City of Chilliwack has learned of the passing of Peter Dyck, former Alderman for the District of Chilliwack.

Mr. Dyck served as Alderman for the District of Chilliwack from 1991 – 1993. During his time as Alderman he served on a number of Standing Committees, including the Transportation Advisory Committee (Vice Chair), the Heritage Advisory Committee (Chair), Environmental Issues Advisory Committee (Chair), and the Emergency Executive Committee. After retiring from City Council, Mr. Dyck served as a community volunteer on the Design Review Advisory Committee for several years.

The City’s flag will be lowered to half-mast to mourn the passing of Mr. Dyck and to honour his service and contribution to our City.

“I was privileged to not only work with Peter but to know him as a dear friend, who had a passion for community building”, said Mayor Sharon Gaetz. "He will be remembered by all as a genuine man who was a hard worker, generous and kind. He will be deeply missed. Council and I send his wife Lorraine, and his family and friends, our deepest condolences.”
