Downtown Land Use and Development Plan

Preview the display boards from the April 14, 2010 Open House

In the summer of 2008 the draft DLUD Plan was presented to the public, generating a significant interest and much discussion about the downtown and its neighbourhoods.  Since then, the City and its consultants have incorporated many of your inputs, crystallized the downtown policies, and laid out detailed development guidelines.  The new plan is now ready for public vetting before proceeding to formal adoption.  It focuses on five areas:

  1. Vision and goals
  2. Fundamental concept
  3. Land use plan and designations
  4. Street network
  5. Parks and open space

Throughout the new draft, extensive graphics and concise standards are used to illustrate the public vision and development intentions for the next 30 years.  It aims to render the plan more transparent to both the citizens and the development industry, and to sustain the public passion for the downtown – as a place to live, work, recreate, invest and grow.

The “final” open house on the DLUD Plan will be held on April 14, Wednesday, at the Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould Street), from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..   You are invited to review the plan and offer your comments.  Please direct your questions and submissions to Karen Stanton, Manager, Development Services at 604-793-2906 or downtownplan@chilliwack.com.

Your feedback is crucial to this plan. Please take the time to fill out the feedback form and submit it to the Municipal Development Department at City Hall.
